Heading Analysis

H1–H6 hierarchy, counts and structure issues, with a filterable document outline.

What it does

Heading Analysis

Headings are the outline a search engine and a screen reader both read to understand what a page is about. A missing H1, a duplicated one, or a level skipped from H2 straight to H4 breaks that outline — and this tool surfaces every fault in seconds.

Builds the page's heading outline the way a screen reader and a search engine read it, then flags the structural faults that matter — a missing or duplicated H1, and any skipped level such as an H2 followed straight by an H4.

What you get

Everything heading analysis covers

Full H1–H6 outline

The page's heading tree exactly as it's marked up, so you can see the document structure a crawler infers.

Structure issues flagged

Missing or duplicated H1s and skipped levels are called out — the faults that quietly confuse both accessibility and SEO.

Counts per level

How many of each heading exist, so keyword-stuffed H2 walls and empty sections are obvious.

Filterable document view

Search and filter the outline to find the heading you need in a long page without scrolling the whole thing.

How it works

Three steps, seconds each

1

Paste the page

The tool extracts the heading markup, not the visual styling — what the crawler actually reads.

2

Review the outline

See the tree, the counts and any structural warnings in one view.

3

Fix the hierarchy

One H1 per page, no skipped levels, headings that describe the section beneath them.

FAQ

Common questions

Should a page have only one H1?

As a rule, yes — one H1 that states the page's topic. Multiple H1s aren't fatal in HTML5, but a single clear one is the safest, most readable choice.

Does skipping heading levels hurt SEO?

It hurts accessibility first and clarity second. Search engines are tolerant, but a clean H1→H2→H3 outline is easier for everything to parse.

Do keywords in headings matter?

Descriptive headings help, but write them for the reader. A heading stuffed with keywords reads as spam to people and models alike.
